Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks made history Thursday by landing the program’s highest-rated recruit ever.
Dakorien Moore, the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver according to 247Sports’ rankings, announced his commitment to the Ducks.
Moore chose Oregon over Texas, LSU and Ohio State. While Moore was previously committed to LSU, now that he has committed to Oregon he said he is shutting down his recruitment and will not flip again.
The news leaked earlier on Thursday, and the initial version of The Oregonian/OregonLive’s story reflected that. ESPN’s Pete Thamel Tweeted just after 5 p.m. PT that Moore was headed to Oregon, but quickly deleted it. After Thamel deleted the Tweet, Moore indicated on his account that he hadn’t shared the news with any reporter.
But it ended up being the Ducks anyway for Moore, who eventually made his announcement after a lengthy Q&A session on Instagram Live.
Moore, hailing from Duncanville High School in Texas, is a five-star prospect and the No. 5 overall player in the 2025 class according to 247. His composite rating of 0.999 is the highest ever for an Oregon recruit, surpassing defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux (.9987) in 2019.
In his junior season at Duncanville, Moore had 65 receptions for 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns, per MaxPreps.
The 5-foot-11, 182-pound prospect took his final official visit to Eugene on June 21, where Lanning and company sealed the deal and kept Moore from ending up a Longhorn. Most recruiting experts predicted Moore would commit to Texas.
Oregon is up to 15 players in its 2025 class with Moore’s commitment. Moore joins four-star tight end Da’Saahn Brame (Kansas); four-star wide receivers Dallas Wilson (Texas), Cooper Perry (Arizona) and Isaiah Mozee (Missouri); four-star running backs Dierre Hill (Illinois) and Jordon Davison (California); four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr. (California); four-star interior offensive lineman Ziyare Addison (Florida); four-star linebacker Nasir Wyatt (California); four-star edge rusher Matthew Johnson (California); four-star cornerbacks Brandon Finney (Maryland) and Dorian Brew (Texas); three-star offensive tackle Demetri Manning (Washington); and three-star defensive tackle Josiah Sharma (California).
