Here’s a list of governmental office closures and service schedule changes due to the Fourth of July holiday.
Government offices:
Federal offices and courts: Closed Thursday, July 4, for the holiday.
Oregon and Washington state offices and courts: Closed Thursday.
Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington and Clark county offices, city of Portland and Vancouver offices, Metro regional center: Closed Thursday.
Transit:
TriMet: Will run buses on Sunday schedules, MAX on weekend service, WES will not run, and the Portland Streetcar will run on weekend schedules Thursday.
C-Tran: Is running on Sunday/holiday service Thursday.
Portland Aerial Tram: Closed.
Public services:
Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington county libraries and Fort Vancouver Regional Library District branches: Closed Thursday.
U.S. Postal Service offices: Closed, no regular mail service Thursday.
Banks: Closed, some in-store branches may be open.
Portland parking meters: Free Thursday except in Portland Parks that charge for parking.
Bridge closures:
Multnomah County will close the Hawthorne and Morrison bridges to vehicles 8 p.m.-midnight on Thursday for the fireworks show put on by the Waterfront Blues Festival.
In prior years when the bridge was open to motor vehicles, crowds of pedestrians would generally gather on the bridges to watch the show and cause safety issues. Cars and trucks will need to choose an alternate river crossing during that time. Both bridges will remain open to pedestrians, bicyclists, and other non-motorized vehicles.
