A man was stabbed to death early Sunday in the Buckman neighborhood of Southeast Portland, police said.
The man died in the 1400 block of Southeast 12th Avenue just north of Hawthorne Boulevard before police responded at 1:49 a.m. The suspect or suspects had already fled, police said, and they’ve made no arrests. Police have released no other details.
The man’s death marks the 43rd homicide and the third fatal stabbing in Portland at the halfway mark of 2023. Last year at this time, Portland had recorded 44 homicides on its way to a record-breaking tally of 101. Of those, eight people died in stabbings.
The vast majority of Portland’s homicides involve guns.
