A man drowned in the Tualatin River at Jurgens Park in Tualatin Sunday evening, officials said.
The man, whose name hasn’t been released, was apparently swimming in the river with his family when he went under the water’s surface and didn’t come back up, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said in a news release. Emergency services received a 911 call around 5:42 p.m. and sent dive teams, drone support and other rescuers.
About half an hour after getting the call, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews found the man’s lifeless body in the river. He was not wearing a lifejacket, officials said.
This was the second drowning in the area in less than two weeks, after a man drowned in the Willamette River near the West Linn boat ramp July 5.
