A pedestrian is in a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after a suspected hit-and-run early Thursday morning in North Portland’s Kenton neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to a report of an injured man lying on the street near North Columbia Boulevard and Argyle Way around 2:30 a.m. They arrived to find him suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Emergency medical responders arrived and treated the man, whose name hasn’t been released.

The driver suspected of crashing into the man left the scene, and officers have not located him, according to the police statement.

The Portland Police Major Crash Team finished the on-scene portion of the investigation around 6:30 a.m., opening North Columbia Boulevard back up to traffic. Officials are still investigating the incident, police reported.

Earlier this week, two people died in Vancouver in separate, suspected hit-and-runs.

Police ask anyone with information about Thursday’s incident to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov.
