Northbound lanes of Interstate Bridge close Saturday night for maintenance

A two-span bridge crosses a river. Each roadway is enclosed in steel trusses. Four large tower structures appear at the nearest end of the bridge.

The northbound span of the Interstate Bridge will close at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 20 so crews can work on repairs to drawbridge signal lights, signs, bearings, and the bridge deck.

Northbound drivers from Oregon to Washington will need to use Interstate 205’s Glenn Jackson Bridge from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, July 20-21. The Interstate 5 northbound on-ramp from Hayden Island will also be closed.

The southbound lanes of I-5 over the bridge will remain open.

The sidewalk on the northbound span will be closed to bicyclists and pedestrians, but the sidewalk on the southbound span during the work and can be used to travel in both directions.

The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is operated and maintained by the Oregon Department of Transportation. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
