Oregon judge’s decision to use second graders as special jurors draws DA complaint

DA John Wentworth raised alarms about Judge Ulanda Watkins in a June 3 letter to Judge Michael Wetzel, who helps manage the administration of the Clackamas County Circuit Court.

The Clackamas County district attorney took the unusual step this month of registering a complaint with the county’s presiding judge about another judge who empaneled second graders as special jurors in a misdemeanor hit-and-run trial in April.
