Portland continues to pump millions into private security contracts

Portland leaders have agreed to continue spending millions of dollars annually for private guards and other security services amid ongoing theft, property damage and physical safety threats at some city-owned properties.

The unanimous decision Wednesday by the City Council extends an existing contract with Allied Security Services, set to end this month, for an additional three years.
