Portland police administrator charged with cover-up after brawl left a man dead near her husband’s store

Nearly two years after a brawl in the shadow of Portland’s Providence Park left a man dead, prosecutors have charged a nearby shopkeeper in the killing and allege that his wife, an administrator for the police force, tried to cover their tracks, records show.

In his first court appearance Monday, Stadium Superette co-owner Bruce Chirre, 38, pleaded not guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of Jack Dekker, who was killed in a fight less than a block away from the shop early on the morning of April 5, 2021.
