The Portland area is under a winter weather advisory Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon, with up to an inch of wet snow forecasted and wind gusts up to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Elevation could play a key role in which areas receive snow, with forecasters predicting the areas most likely to receive the wintry mix will be at elevations of 500 feet and above, plus areas east of Interstate 205 and the eastern slopes of the coast range.
