Portland Timbers midfielder Evander has been selected to participate in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, Major League Soccer announced Monday.
Evander will join nine other players from MLS and Liga MX, as well as one MLS great and one player from the National Women’s Soccer League in a test of soccer skills at the event that includes challenges such as crossbar challenge, touch challenge and cross/volley challenge.
Evander’s addition to the roster for the All-Star Skills Challenge will increase his presence during the league’s showcase week. The Brazilian was also named to MLS All-Star roster after posting a team-leading 11 goals and 12 assists through 19 matches in 2024. His 12 assists are currently tied for third most in the league. Evander is the first Portland player selected to the All-Star roster since Diego Chara in 2019.
The MLS All-Star Skills Challenge is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio. The MLS All-Star Game, with MLS All-Stars taking on All-Stars from Mexico’s Liga MX, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24.
