A Louisiana-based purveyor of chicken fingers will bring its popular poultry dishes to Portland’s Pioneer Place Mall this week.

Raising Cane’s, widely known in the South for its fried chicken offerings, will open up shop in the mall on Thursday, kicking things off with a raffle. Prizes including a year of free fried fowl and the opportunity to make a $1,000 donation to a charity of the prize-winner’s choice.

“I can’t tell you how special this is for the entire Raising Cane’s family, to finally bring Raising Cane’s to Oregon and to Caniacs in Portland,” Cristian Segura Reyes, general manager of the chain, said in a statement.

Todd Graves started the business in 1996 and named it after his yellow Labrador retriever. Today, the chain has more than 400 locations in 27 states and several restaurants in the Middle East.

Raising Cane’s, which offers fries, Texas toast, coleslaw and a special sauce with a secret recipe, in addition to chicken fingers, will be open in the mall’s food court from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
