The National Weather Service said several new records for high temperatures were set around Oregon and the Portland metro area on Friday.
Portland reached a record high of 99, one degree higher than the record of 98 for the date set in 2023.
Vancouver, Washington, hit 97, a new high over the 96 reached in 2023.
Hillsboro broke triple digits with a record recorded high temperature of 100 degrees. That’s the first new record since the temp reached 98 in 1958 in the Washington County seat.
Salem hit 103, well above the record of 99 degrees from 1960.
Eugene also topped 100, clocking in at 101 for a new record high for July 5, also breaking the record of 99 set just last year.
The weather service expects more record highs in the coming days due to the heat dome over the West.
Cooling centers and public libraries provide some relief to those without air conditioning or who are unsheltered.
