Oregon’s longest serving lawmaker and Senate president, Peter Courtney, was recalled by fellow Oregon leaders Tuesday as a devoted public official and big personality who will have a lasting impact on the state he loved.

Gov. Tina Kotek, who presided over the Oregon House for nine years of the 20 that Courtney led the Senate, called him “one of the most important architects of our state in recent memory.”
