The best campground on the West Coast is in Oregon, according to a new ranking from camping website The Dyrt.

The Dyrt, which bills itself as “the most active camping community in the world,” put together a list of the best campgrounds in the U.S., organized by region.

Oregon had three campgrounds on the Pacific regional top 10 list.

Bay Point Landing in Coos Bay was The Dyrt’s overall No. 1 pick for best campground in the Pacific region – Washington, Oregon and California.

Bay Point reached the top spot in part because of what the ranking called a “menu of luxuries way beyond the usual camping experience” that includes a “hot tub, heated pool, wine tastings, yoga, hiking tours.”

The campground has ocean views and is about 30 miles south of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area.

Cape Lookout State Park, also on the Oregon coast near Netarts, came in at No. 4.

The ranking raved about Cape Lookout’s beautiful sunsets and called it “hard to beat for convenient camping with super-easy beach access.”

Hoodview Campground, near Timothy Lake in the Mount Hood National Forest, was ranked No. 7.

Lakeside camping with views of Mount Hood, an extensive trail system and access to the fabled Pacific Crest Trail earned Hoodview its spot in the top 10.

Looking for an adventure east of the Cascades? In 2023, travel website Trips to Discover ranked central Oregon’s Bivy Campground at Smith Rock State Park as the most beautiful campground in Oregon.
