This $3.6M Oregon estate has 2 hobby buildings. See what’s inside

A priority for some home shoppers is to have a separate workshop that creates space to organize and enjoy a hobby, like playing the drums, while moving the noise outside the house. The backyard building can be as small as a shed or as big as a barn.

A 40-acre, gated estate near Bend, for sale at $3.6 million, has two outbuildings with heated, finished spaces, polished concrete floors and endless possibilities under pitched ceilings. There is also a three-car garage attached to the house.

“Made for a creative or a craftsman,” the residence at 20630 Harper Road in central Oregon’s unincorporated Tumalo “is a peaceful oasis with so much to offer,” said listing broker Jake Moorhead of RE/MAX Key Properties.

One of the outbuildings has 2,634 square feet of space that includes a 1,000-square-foot office and game room finished with Douglas fir wood paneling plus a bathroom with a granite counter. “With big beautiful Cascade mountain views from the west-facing windows, it is a peaceful retreat,” Moorhead told The Oregonian/OregonLive. Possible uses include a home office, homeschool area, retreat or yoga studio, he added.

The other part of the shop could conceal mechanical systems or be used for storage, including parking an RV.

The second outbuilding has 1,040 square feet of space, and half is currently being used as a gym. Other possible uses include a wood shop, displaying a car collection, “space for tinkering on cars or simply just additional garage space,” said Moorhead.

The estate also offers privacy and easy entertaining at home. The 3,451-square-foot house, built in 1996, has hardwood floors and a great room with a wood-burning fireplace under vaulted ceilings. The dining room also has 14-foot ceilings. The primary suite is on the main level and there are three guest rooms on the second level.

French doors lead to a covered patio. A rock waterfall flows into a large pond, “creating a peaceful and serene space with the sound of water, pulling in wildlife like birds, waterfowl and deer,” said Moorhead.

The property, composed of two 20-acre parcels bordered by public land on three sides, has access to the Maston Trail System for mountain biking and trail running.

“What makes this property so special is the privacy and seclusion offered by this wide, expansive space,” Moorhead told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “It’s an incredible setting with a meticulously crafted home, and yet you are still close to town. This is a rare opportunity to own and enjoy a legacy property.”
