Victim identified in fatal shooting at Sellwood Riverfront Park as 20-year-old man

A man shot and killed last week at Sellwood Riverfront Park was identified Monday by Portland police as a 20-year-old Sherwood man.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the park a little after 11 p.m. Friday and found Asher Ethan HK Mendes dead when they arrived, police said.

Homicide detectives believe many people were in the area when the shooting occurred and left without talking to investigators, police said in a statement. They made no immediate arrest in the shooting and released no other information.

Mendes’ death was one of five homicides that occurred over the weekend.
